Anya Dewey Clarke is proving a force to be reckoned with for 2024 after being awarded Leading Rider of the Weekend in the 128cm Section at Aintree Equestrian Centre.

The 9-year-old from Lincolnshire kicked the proceedings by qualifying Kilcreene Snapdragon for the Royal International Horse Show by taking 3rd Place in the 128cm Winter second rounds, followed by 4th place on Jim in the same class, earning herself Best Rider of the class in the 128 section.

Said Anya:

“It was amazing that I qualified for the Royal International and I was so proud of all my ponies, I love them so much.”

Over the course of the weekend, Anya qualified for 5 finals; the 11 & Under Finals on Brookhall Pavarotti and Tullibards Silver Mine; the 138cm Handicap Special Final on Tullibards Silver Mine; the 128cm Handicap Special Final on Broohall Pavarotti; and the Winter 128cm Final on Kilcreene Snapdragon – in addition to winning and taking 3rd place in the U10’s Style & Performance on Brookhall Pavarottie and Tullibards Silver Mine.

Said Anna (Anya’s mum):

“We are just over the moon for Anya, she works so hard. She qualified last year and unfortunately couldn’t compete as her pony was poorly but we’re hoping for some better luck this year.

“She really puts her heart and soul into her jumping and her ponies and we couldn’t be more proud of her this weekend”.
