UAE riders claim five wins at Sentower Park ahead of Asian Games
UAE show jumping riders claimed five victories at Sentower Park in Belgium, with four Emirati riders winning across young-horse and CSI1* classes during the four-day international fixture.
Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi began the winning run on Thursday with Biarritz Z, taking the seven and eight-year-old international class ahead of 78 other combinations. Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi and SS Ourania added another UAE podium finish in third, while Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi and Villon WH finished second in the six-year-old division.
Friday brought Humaid two victories and a clean sweep of the seven and eight-year-old podium for the UAE. Riding Argentina de Kreisker Z, he jumped clear in 52.29 seconds to win the young-horse class. Salim and SS Ourania followed in second with a clear round in 55.71 seconds, while Omar and Osenia completed the all-UAE top three, also clear in 56.42 seconds.
Humaid then returned with Villon WH to win the six-year-old 1.20m Two Phase class, producing the fastest second phase in 30.58 seconds.
Seventeen-year-old Mohammad Saeed Al Ghurair added a CSI1* victory on Saturday aboard Ikaros. From 51 starters in the 1.35m class, 24 reached the jump-off and ten jumped clear. Mohammad’s time of 32.90 seconds was the fastest of them, securing the win after he and Ikaros had finished fourth in Friday’s CSI1* 1.30m class.
Mohammad had also taken third in Friday’s CSI3* 1.35m Two Phase class with Dark Satisfaction PS, giving him three top-four finishes across the two days.
Salim rounded off the UAE’s campaign on Sunday with victory aboard Pablo Escobar KJV in the six-year-old 1.25m Two Phase Special. The pair jumped fault-free in both phases, completing the second in 34.91 seconds to win from a field of 37 young horses.
The results followed another strong outing for the UAE at CSI4* Münster in Germany the previous weekend. Three Emirati combinations finished in the Grand Prix top ten: Salim and Flonflon took fifth, Humaid and Foncetti vd Heffinck finished sixth, and Omar and BBS McGregor placed ninth. Omar also took second in a night class aboard Chacco Bay.
The two fixtures form part of the team’s preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan, where jumping is scheduled from 1 to 4 October. The UAE won team bronze at the previous Games in Hangzhou, where Omar also claimed individual silver.
