Steph Gumn Column May 2016

I feel this month has been the biggest step forward this year yet! Axl (pictured left) has proved to be more talented than first expected so has secured himself a part of my team for the near future. I’ve been taking him out and about to train at local venues and low key shows and he’s been golden. I’m over the moon with him!

Nemo is growing and coming along really well, he’s ready to get on now but I’m trying to leave him to mature as long as possible. He has a loose jumping competition next month, which should be fun and something different to do!

I’ve had a few horses come in and out of the yard and loving my job as always. The weather has been amazing, tack cleaning in the sun on the grass is a major perk of the job! I am now working full-steam-ahead with training to get Axl ready for the national finals in August.

Away from horses, I completed the 5k, pretty muddy, Race for Life, inspired by my mom, who is undergoing treatment at the moment. I managed to run the whole way in a good time, which was a massive personal achievement for me!

The ball is rolling in regards to setting up a loose jumping championship in October this year! I didn’t realise how much work was involved in running an event (fair play to all the venues up and down the UK!!).

I can’t wait to get that finalised. I think this year has been a big step forward for me and SG Sports Horses, I’ve seen amazing results from horses I’ve started and sold on which is what it’s all about!

Let’s see what the next month brings!
