Simon Grieve and Meg Elphick to share eventing training tips at London International Horse Show
Event rider and coach Simon Grieve will join grassroots competitor and content creator Meg Elphick for a new ridden masterclass at London International Horse Show this December.
The session, titled Perfecting Lines, will explore how riders can develop accuracy and confidence when introducing horses to the technical questions they might encounter on a cross-country course.
It is due to take place on Saturday 19 December in the Thomas Family London Arena at ExCeL London.
From young horse to experienced eventer
Simon, who coaches Meg, will ride one of his established competition horses, while Meg will be aboard one of her up-and-coming event horses. The demonstration will give spectators the chance to see how training can be adapted for horses at different stages of their development.
The pair will focus on riding accurate lines and introducing questions such as skinnies and corners. They will also discuss the patience, consistency and decisions involved in helping a less experienced horse understand what is being asked.
Simon said he enjoyed working on the technical details of eventing and that audiences could expect an educational session with plenty of laughter. Meg described him as a brilliant teacher and said she was looking forward to seeing how her horse performed in front of the London crowd.
Simon comes to the show following a season that included a top-20 finish at the CCI5* Defender Burghley Horse Trials.
More eventing on the London programme
The masterclass is part of a wider programme for eventing fans at this year’s show. On Friday 18 December, Dickie Waygood will join Ros Canter and Gemma Stevens for an arena eventing masterclass. Pippa Funnell’s Pony Club Rally is scheduled for Monday 21 December.
London International Horse Show runs from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 December 2026 at ExCeL London. Alongside the masterclasses, the show features international jumping, dressage and driving, as well as dog agility, shopping and entertainment.
The organisers say masterclasses can be watched free from the standing viewing area of the Thomas Family London Arena, with seats also available to purchase.
