Olympia to Honour Team GBR Medalists
Medallists from the 2018 Tyron World Equestrian Games (WEG) are going to be honoured at this year’s Olympia, The London International Horse Show.
The riders will take part in a celebratory parade, on the Thursday evening (20 December) in honour of the eight medals the British team achieved during their time in Tyron. The parade will give spectators the perfect opportunity to show their appreciation to all the riders, owners and the chefs d’équipe who partook.
The Team GBR Dressage squad, consisting of Carl Hester, Charlotte Dujardin, Emile Faurie and Spencer Wilton, are set to attend. This follows their Team Bronze achievement at WEG, and Dujardin’s individual bronze in the Grand Prix special, with ride Mount St John Freestyle.
Also in attendance will be the Para-Dressage team. Erin Orford, Natasha Baker, Sophie Wells and Lee Pearson, took team silver at WEG 2018. Baker also took home individual silver in the Grade III, with Wells taking home gold in both the individual grade V and grade V freestyle.
The parade will also be welcoming the gold medal winning British Eventing team too; Gemma Tattersall, Piggy French, Tom McEwen and Ros Canter. Canter also grabbing the individual gold at her time in Tyron.
In addition, the WEG athletes will be joined by British youth team members, such as Jack Whitaker, who recently has just arrived back from his successful team silver stint at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympics.
Commenting on the star-studded parade, Show Director Simon Brooks-Ward exclaimed;
It is an honour to be welcoming the leading British equestrian teams to this year’s Olympia. The parade hails the fantastic achievements of Team GBR and the exceptional group of riders.”
