William Funnell and Billy Congo rode to victory during the CSI4* 1m50 showjumping class during yesterday evenings Liverpool International Horse Show.
The Billy Stud pair held tight following an early lead in the jump-off which saw 12 top riders battle it out for the win.
It was a fierce final round of the day’s showjumping schedule, with many knocking what seemed like the bogey fence mid course due to it’s upright appearance and the temptation for ‘cutting the corner’ to save on those few vital milliseconds.
Shortly behind William Funnell was Bootle-born Peter Charles riding Dauphin. The pair produced an electric round finishing less than one second behind the leader.
Lying in third place was Ireland’s Dermott Lennon riding Fleur IV.
Liverpool International Horse Show is without doubt, one that will stay with many an equestrian enthusiast for many years to come.
