North Carolina Tryon International Equestrian Centre to hose FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 The FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 will be held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina (USA) from 10 to 23 September 2018. Paralysed Teen Wins Compensation Following Fall From Horse Paralysed teen Ashleigh Harris, has been awarded compensation following a fall from a thoroughbred horse when she was 14-years-old. Ashleigh, now 18,  fell after she mounted the horse, who appeared to be ‘strong and willfull’. Mrs Miller, the horse’s owner, encouraged the young girl to have a ride on the thoroughbred. Lorry Collides with Horse in Plymouth A HGV lorry has collided with a loose horse in Tavistock, Plymouth. The accident happened at approximately 12.35pm on Monday 1st November close to the turning at Valley View Farm. The horse, who was believed to have been owned by a local farmer, was unfortunately killed after bolting and being hit. The male lorry driver was attended to by an ambulance was ‘shaken’ but unhurt. A Thoroughbred horse has been put to sleep from injuries sustained after being spooked by fireworks. The 12-year-old bay gelding, Boy, severed his tendon and damaged his cannon bone whilst fleeing the sound of fireworks in his field in Banburgh, Northumbeland. His owner, Nelly Shell, was alerted by a friend who shared the same field with another horse. Vets were immediately called to the scene to treat Boy however following assessment, and a further two separate opinions from other veterinary professionals, Nelly made the heartbreaking decision to put the gelding to sleep…

Policewoman Killed in Accident A County Down based policewoman has been killed this week in an accident. Tributes have been paid to the constable who fell from her horse during a hunt in Ballygowan, Ireland. Constable Claire Lowe, 39-yrs-old, was participating in the hunt when the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.  Claire had worked as a police officer for six years and was a well respected member of the community.
