William Fox-Pitt MBE Joins The FEI Athlete’s Committee

William Fox-Pitt MBE has become an eventing representative on the FEI Athlete’s Committee.

Fifty-two equestrians stood for the FEI athletes committee, from all over the world. Fox-Pitt was elected by fellow athletes, via an online vote, and will join other British representative, reiner Francesca Sternberg, on the committee.

Fox-Pitt stated he would like to ensure “significant rider input” to be included in the meetings of the committee.

A thankful Cian O’Connor also appreciated the votes of his peers, allowing him to represent showjumping on the panel.

Upon O’Connor’s election, he stated;

I look forward to representing the riders and to further promote and develop the sport of showjumping globally.”

Each committee member has a duty to remain on the panel for four years. Members also need to sit on the technical committees, providing input from their specialist discipline.

The new elections also see Beatriz Ferrer-Salat from Spain taking a seat for dressage, Angelika Trabert from Germany taking the para-dressage seat, Kristina Boe also from Germany as a vaulting representative, and Tarek Taher from Saudi Arabia, as an endurance representative on the panel.

A driving representative is yet to be decided, standing as a tie between Vilmos Jambor of Hungary and Mareike Harm, from Germany. A second, deciding round of voting will now take place to decide the FEI Driving representative, with the results being revealed on 12th October 2018.
