Today’s Placepot Picks: Saturday 7 November 2026 Aintree Tips
Today’s Placepot picks cover Aintree’s first six races, starting at 12.40pm and finishing with the 3.35pm handicap chase. Our suggested ticket contains 32 lines, costing £3.20 at 10p per line, with Alexei the sole selection in the third leg.
Small fields make this a demanding sequence. The opener has been reduced to two runners, while four remain in both the Molyneux Hurdle and Rising Stars Novices’ Chase. Under standard Placepot terms, only the winner qualifies in those races. The going is good to soft, good in places.
Today’s Placepot picks at a glance
| Leg | Time | Selections |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 12.40pm | Black Eddy, Old Coast Road |
| 2 | 1.15pm | Kadastral, Javert Allen |
| 3 | 1.45pm | Alexei — banker |
| 4 | 2.25pm | Talk To The Man, No Drama This End |
| 5 | 3pm | Our Guide, Walden |
| 6 | 3.35pm | Boombawn, Knight Of Allen |
These are editorial selections, not guarantees. All listed selections remained declared when checked.
Leg 1, 12.40pm: Cover both remaining runners
Selections: Black Eddy and Old Coast Road
Black Eddy brings winning hurdle form, while Old Coast Road makes his hurdling debut after finishing second in a bumper. With Baron Du Brizais and Stick To The Board withdrawn, both remaining runners go on the ticket. That covers either winner, although it does not mean both selections earn a place: only the winning horse qualifies.
Leg 2, 1.15pm: Potential against experience
Selections: Kadastral and Javert Allen
Kadastral twice finished behind subsequent Supreme runner-up Sober Glory over hurdles and now switches to fences. His potential is appealing, but this is his chasing debut against experienced handicappers.
Javert Allen supplies that experience. He finished fourth in this race last year and returns from a mark 3lb lower, making him a useful second selection rather than relying entirely on the newcomer.
Leg 3, 1.45pm: Alexei carries the ticket
Selection: Alexei
Alexei’s fourth in the Champion Hurdle gives him strong credentials for the Grade 2 Molyneux Hurdle. Mydaddypaddy’s withdrawal leaves four runners, so a second-place finish would not keep the ticket alive. Alexei is our banker, but this is a winner-only leg, not a safety net.
Leg 4, 2.25pm: Two chances in the Rising Stars
Selections: Talk To The Man and No Drama This End
Talk To The Man made a successful start over fences at Worcester last month, improving on his hurdle form. No Drama This End brings Grade 1-winning novice hurdle ability to his chasing debut.
There is enough uncertainty about that transition to include both. With four runners remaining after withdrawals, this is another race in which the ticket needs the winner.
Leg 5, 3pm: Fitness and staying form
Selections: Our Guide and Walden
Our Guide finished third in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow and now tackles three miles. His recent racing and tendency to find more under pressure make him interesting at the longer distance.
Walden offers proven staying form. He won at Haydock over three miles in April and returns after a break, having previously shown he can win fresh.
Leg 6, 3.35pm: Two for the closing handicap
Selections: Boombawn and Knight Of Allen
Boombawn returned over hurdles at Chepstow and now switches back to fences from a reduced chase mark, with cheekpieces fitted for the first time. Knight Of Allen also showed promise last season and provides a second route through a competitive final leg.
Where else are there Placepots today?
The Placepot is available at British and Irish meetings, with separate pools for each card. Saturday’s other meetings are listed below alongside Aintree. All times are UK time.
| Meeting | First race |
|---|---|
| Doncaster | 11.55am |
| Gowran Park | 12.10pm |
| Uttoxeter | 12.15pm |
| Kelso | 12.20pm |
| Aintree — featured ticket | 12.40pm |
| Southwell | 2.05pm |
Doncaster’s eight-race card means the 3.25pm November Handicap is race seven, outside its standard six-leg Placepot sequence.
How much does today’s Placepot cost?
The calculation is:
2 × 2 × 1 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 32 lines
At 10p per line, the total stake is £3.20. At 20p per line, it is £6.40.
A banker means selecting just one horse in a leg. If Alexei runs but fails to qualify, every line on this ticket loses. Even a successful ticket can return less than the total stake, depending on the dividend and the number of winning lines.
