E-Riders: The Show Must Go On
Equestrian News :: Everything Horse
With staying in the new going out due to the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, why not make the most of this time by trying something new? With competitions now cancelled up and down the country, horses and riders are condemned to a summer ‘on-site’ but we can confirm all is not lost! With E-Riders providing competitions online, the platform offers the perfect environment for the competition season to stay open for a long time to come!
An initiative that has grown in popularity over the past few years, competing online is an ideal way to make the most out of your time at the yard this year. Predominantly dressage focussed, E-Riders also offer bareback and eventing competitions too. All tests are available via the E-riders website.
Initially designed for riders without access to a horsebox, who get too anxious when showing in public, or are riding a nervous/excitable horse, the online phenomenon celebrates winners with rosettes and online acknowledgement, including social media celebration and more!
How to compete online?
E-Riders boasts a variety of online competition for all levels of rider. All you need to do is select a month for competition, film the test of choice via a smartphone, and send it in for marking. Horse and rider combinations are judged, as they would be at competition and given a % for their final mark, before finding out their overall ranking position. Judging is undertaken by the large bank of British Dressage listed judges which are rotated across the appropriate levels of competition, so you can rest assured your test is in good hands.
Rosettes are awarded up to 10th place, and competitors can compete in leagues, championships and even team events!
Under 16 riders are encouraged to enter, however, permission must be sought from an adult prior to submitting an entry.
How much does it cost?
There’s no membership fee required to take part in E-Riders. The cost per class entry is £10, which also saves you money on wagon/trailer fuel and drinks when travelling to an equestrian centre.

The Benefits of Competing Online
There’s a host of advantages when it comes to competing online. This could be, for example, by deciding to defer filming due to weather conditions, or perhaps your horse performs better in a more familiar environment? There’s no need to own a trailer/wagon, you can practice your test a little more before filming, there will be fewer distractions, and the list goes on.
So why not have some fun this year and give competing online a try with E-Riders.
