Team GB Paralympic Dressage Horse Change
A Team GB Paralympic Dressage horse swap has been made, as the squad get ready to fly to Tokyo.
The horse change comes for Team GB’s Sophie Wells. Set to make her third Paralympic appearance with C Fatal Attraction (Jorge), Sophie will now partner with Don Cara M at Tokyo.
C Fatal Attraction has been ruled out of contention due to a ‘fitness issue’. However, as Sophie’s direct reserve and in equal training for the Olympics, Don Cara M will now step up to perform.
On the change in partner, Sophie announced on social media;
Gutted that Jorge won’t be going to Tokyo, especially when he has felt so good. However, I need to put his welfare first and it’s just come a little bit too soon.”
Don is in great form and I’m looking forward to giving him the best experience possible for him to shine and show the world what I can see and believe in him. Huge thank you to his owners, Rowland and Maria, for their support and Amy Woodhead and Tracy for passing me the ride.”
British Equestrian Para Performance Manager, Georgina Sharples commented;
Sophie, her home team and the World Class Programme equine sport science staff have done everything possible to have C Fatal Attraction fit and ready for Tokyo, but we have to put his welfare first.”
“In Don Cara M, Sophie has an equally able partner. She has worked hard this year to build his strength and consistency to match his talent and presence. We are looking forward to his Paralympic debut.”
The para-dressage horses are currently in quarantine. They will fly to Tokyo on 18 August.
