A trio of entries in The Sovereign Auctions Supreme Summer Sale on 23 July have Olympic genetics from the worlds of international showjumping and eventing.

Available in the online auction is an embryo by the late Holstein stallion Carthargo-Z, who showjumped at two Olympics, out of the mare Tinkabell-12 who competed on the Longines Global Champions Tour and in Nations Cups with Brazilian Olympic gold medallist Rodrigo Pessoa.

There is also an implanted UK-based embryo by Chacco Blue, the current leading sire of showjumpers in the world and also the sire of Ben Maher’s Tokyo Olympics British gold medallist Explosion W. This embryo is out of an exceptional British mare who jumped at 1.60m and who has also gone on to produce extremely successful 1.60m jumpers who have been sold for seven-figure sums to UAE showjumping teams.

From the star-studded world of eventing, Gemma Stevens (née Tattersall) has an implanted embryo from her Rio Olympics-selected mare Chico Bella P (Chicos Boy ex Carolus I) by the international grand prix and Nations Cup showjumper Je T’Aime Flamenco. The resulting embryo has 58% thoroughbred blood. This is the first-ever chance to buy an embryo from Chico Bella P, who also won Bramham CCI4*-S with Gemma in 2016.

Steve Revell of The Sovereign Auction said:

We are delighted to give people the opportunity to buy the world’s best Olympic genetics in our 23 July auction. Add to this the fact that 99% of our lots are based right here in the UK, and it means that we are continuing to support breeders of sports horses in Britain.

We are also delighted to support the most successful breeders via the best hammer prices again in the form of vouchers to be used at Equibreed, one of the most successful embryo transfer and ICSI centres in the UK, and with coverings to some of the UK’s most exciting showjumping and eventing stallions as we did in our May Sale.”

The Sovereign Auction’s Summer Supreme Sale of foals and embryos takes place online on 23 July at Sovereign Auctions and is run in partnership with the global insurer Howden.
