Following the announcement that Grandstand Group will be taking forward the management of The Showing Register (TSR), the organisations have been working hard to introduce some exciting opportunities for the amateur and home-produced competitor in the upcoming season.

“Together we are pleased to announce that The Showing Register Summer Show, taking place on 15th and 16th July 2023 at Stoneleigh Park, will be made an exclusively amateur and home-produced show featuring a full set of Horse of the Year Show ridden showing qualifiers. This fundamental development to the qualification process for HOYS supports the ethos of TSR, providing development opportunities in showing across all levels.”

These events are bound to be met with considerable interest as each year thousands of horse owners and producers set their sights on this highly respected equestrian event that offers highly sought after industry rewards and titles.

Developing Opportunities: The Premier Amateur League

In addition to this, greater opportunities will be provided to amateurs that support the Horse of the Year Show showing qualifiers throughout the season. The recognised HOYS La Liga League will now be dedicated to amateurs and renamed the ‘Premier Amateur League’. The positioning of the Premier Amateur League with The Showing Register will offer an additional HOYS 2023 ticket in every HOYS ridden showing class for eligible amateur combinations.

How the League Will Work

The Premier Amateur League will work to reward amateur combinations regularly placed in the top 8 at HOYS qualifiers with points towards the league table. In similarity to the previous HOYS Showing Wildcard, the top five results from the season will be totalled to give an amount for each amateur or home-produced combination. The eligible combination with the greatest number of points from their top five placings, which has not already qualified for HOYS, will gain qualification for Horse of the Year Show 2023. Combinations that top the Premier Amateur League will also see their consistency rewarded with exclusive TSR prizes.

The two initiatives of The Showing Register will see a significant total of 112 places across the ridden showing classes at Horse of the Year Show 2023 dedicated to amateur and home-produced combinations.

The Showing Register remains committed to providing support and education throughout the competitors progression in showing. Reflecting this, there will be renewed emphasis on training clinics for all levels both in-hand and ridden, HOYS preparations days and exclusive training and advice for TSR members.

Jane Warmington, Event Director of Horse of the Year Show said:

There is only one HOYS, and we know the dedication and work that goes into getting there for so many people. It is our aim that with these new initiatives we can provide greater scope for more people to fulfil their lifetime ambition and compete at Horse of the Year Show. Whilst we remain mindful of the open offering of HOYS tickets, we are also determined to provide opportunities for the wider showing community, and we believe that this is a great way to support competitors across the board.”

The Showing Register commented:

We are so excited to be introducing more opportunities for TSR members of all levels. HOYS is a fabulous aspiration for so many people and we believe that through the TSR training, support and the new Premier Amateur League we can help more people make this ambition a reality in 2023.”

The Showing Register membership is now open offering benefits for all levels, featuring exclusive advice and training, discounted clinics, a HOYS general ticket and exclusive content with Showing World Magazine.
