Dressage rider and trainer Rob Waine was on cloud nine recently after winning a major Iberian Horse Dressage Championship in Paris.

Based in Beaconsfield, South Buckinghamshire, Rob, and the Andalusian stallion Nazareno Vicon – owned by Maria and Steve Dent – travelled to the MCI European Championships then returned home having been crowned the Golega/Carmen Cita European Champion!

Known as Nasa at home, Rob started riding Nazareno Vicon as a four-year-old and now three years later they are competing together at Medium level.

Said Rob: “Nasa was just a star, we were all so pleased with how he went and the result was obviously fantastic.

“He was originally bought as a stunt horse for the business Maria and Steve run and was destined to be Cinderella’s horse in the eponymous film but everyone thought he had the talent to focus on pure dressage.

“We went to Paris as part of the British contingent where we won a team silver as well as the individual gold.

“The test score included two tens which was amazing and the exposure for Nasa at a major competition was also beneficial.”

Rob rides Nasa in a Black Country Dante Dressage Saddle which he says has significantly helped with their progress.

“The saddle fits so well and is really comfortable as we have moved through the levels from Novice to Medium. With our eventual aim being to ride at Grand Prix you really need the right saddle for both horse and rider.”
