Irish Giant Wins Puissance at Liverpool International for the Second Time in a Month!
18.1hh Irish horse, Cavalier Rusticana soared over the 7ft 1in (2.16m) Puissance wall at Liverpool International last night to win the class.
Owned by Mary McCarthy, this was only the second time the 2006 bay stallion had attempted the wall the first being last month, for-which he won, at Cavan International in Ireland. Rider Peter Smyth was thrilled with the horses performance.
Shane Breen (IRL) on board Gotti Van Paemel challenged the unstoppable duo. Unfortunately as the last round played out it wasn’t to be as the 2006 grey gelding who knocked the wall at 7ft 1in taking second place, leaving just the one winner for the Puissance.
Although the Irish dominated the top placings among joint third was fellow British rider James Smith riding Tyson Uno. He shared his position with Dennis Lynch (IRL) riding Garkus Van Het Indihof, Christopher Megahey (IRL) riding Seapatrick Cruise Cavalier and Anothony Condon (IRL) riding Hadine Van’T Zorgvliet.
