The favourite faces two rivals with higher official ratings. Al Qareem is rated 113 and Al Aasy 112, compared with Aegean Prince’s 110, giving the race interest beyond the betting order.

Wetherby: Kingston Narcissus leads chase betting

The 3.35pm Crossley Handicap Chase is a Premier Handicap over approximately two miles and three furlongs.

Kingston Narcissus was quoted at 5/4 in the morning market. Crebilly followed at 11/2, ahead of Prairie Wolf at 6/1 and Primoz at 7/1.

Matterhorn has been declared a non-runner. The going was reported as good, good to firm in places, on watered ground.

Down Royal: Blake narrowly preferred to Mange Tout

The 2.35pm bottlegreen Hurdle is a Listed contest over approximately two miles.

Blake was a narrow market leader at 15/8, with Mange Tout at 2/1 and El Cairos at 7/2. Generous Risk, who appeared among the original declarations, has been withdrawn.

Those prices suggest a competitive race at the head of the betting, with little separating the first two.

Uttoxeter: short-priced runners in the opening races

Sean Bowen rides two early favourites at Uttoxeter. Hold The Serve was quoted at 4/9 for the 12.35pm beginners’ chase, while Taranis Dubh was the same price for the 1.07pm QuinnBet Novices’ Hurdle.

The latter returns after winning on his most recent appearance.

Newcastle and Dundalk provide evening racing

Newcastle’s nine-race card begins at 4.15pm. Pequenita was an early 6/4 favourite for the 5.15pm nursery handicap, having finished second on her previous three starts.

Dundalk follows at 5.30pm, with seven races scheduled through to 8.30pm.
