Gerrit Nieberg Becomes New Live Contender for Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping

The 2022 Rolex Grand Prix of the CHIO Aachen was won by German competitor, Gerrit Nieberg riding Ben 431 making him the latest contender for the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. Second place went to Rolex Testimonee Scott Brash and third place to Nicola Philippaerts.

Re-live the excitement from CHIO Aachen 2022, including Gerrit Nieberg’s sensational victory in the Rolex Grand Prix in the video below.

In total, five combinations made it through to the jump-off, coming through the first two rounds on a zero score. Second to go, Rolex Testimonee Daniel Deusser was the first to achieve a much sought-after treble clear to set the pace for those who followed. As the 2021 champion, Deusser knows what it takes to win on the hallowed turf of Aachen Soers and rode a faultless round aboard Killer Queen VDM to put the pressure on the remaining competitors.

Brash, another looking to join the distinguished list of two-time winners of this prestigious Grand Prix, used his experience and skill to take the tightest lines and shave over two seconds off Deusser’s time. However, it was Nieberg, as last to go, who outperformed his rivals with exceptionally tight turns to take the victory, with Brash and Deusser in second and fourth respectively.
