Eqcouture Riding Leggings and Base Layer Review

Eqcouture Riding Leggings and Technical Base Layer Review- Helping shape your riding wardrobe’s future!

Review by Suzanne Ashton, founder of Everything Horse

As a rider from a young age, and a fan of all things equestrian, when the opportunity to trial the Eqcouture Riding Leggings and Base Layer came about, I jumped at the chance to produce a review.

Ultimately, when choosing apparel for riding I look for comfort, support, breathability, and style. The market currently offers a wide variety of wear for riders, so it’s important to know what to look out for when it comes purchase, especially in today’s economical climate. Durability is another factor I like to add to the mix when looking for new riding clothes, so this was also considered when putting the products to the test.

This review features thoughts, feelings, and findings surrounding the Eqcouture Rose Gold Black Riding Leggings and Technical Base Layer.

  • Eqcouture Rose Gold and Black Riding Leggings

The Eqcouture Rose Gold and Black Riding Leggings are easy to pull on and help lift and shape the rider’s legs. The full seat ‘sticky-bum’ effect features the brand’s logo instead of the usual silicone dots or stripes, which adds a fun look to this sophisticated range.

The waist comes up to a little over the navel, with a wide band that acts as additional support around the tummy area. To the back is a large embroidered ‘Eqcouture’, and the sides have pockets of ample size for a larger phone and those all-important treats.

Branding continues to the front, with a horse’s head in the rose gold, which really pops on the black fabric. The legs end with the usual elasticated ankle which is lightweight and flexible, that helps with comfort under a pair of full-length riding boots.

Overall, these riding leggings are of excellent quality and standard for riding – read on to find out more thoughts on these below.

Available in sizes: XXS, XS (6-8), S (8-10), M (10-12), L (14-16) and XL (16-18)

  • Eqcouture Technical Base Layer

A close-fitting, lightweight base layer that hugs the rider’s frame with plenty of support in all the right areas (tummy and the top of your arms). The moisture-wicking fabric allowed for breathability when riding – which was needed, especially over the warmer days of late.

Underarms were satisfactory for ventilation, which was another box ticked. As a tall rider, the arm and garment length are also suitable without being excessively long or short. The base layer didn’t ride up when in the saddle and overall provided a nice experience, allowing me to get on with the task at hand.

The base layer is branded using a mixture of embroidery and print.

Overall, a great addition to any base layer collection that will not disappoint – read on to find out more about the review below.

Put to the test…

Versatility, Comfort, and Style

Now, if you’re anything like me, wearing riding gear extends to a visit to the coffee shop to meet friends, or with the laptop to sit and work, which means not only do the items need to be hardwearing, but comfortable, versatile, and stylish too. Given all boxes were ticked in this case, this area of the test speaks for itself (as do tend to wear the same items over and over again!).

Washing

The quality of the fabric is evident in the smooth feel, thickness and elasticity that remains wash after wash. Unlike other legwear available for riders on the market, the Eqcouture riding leggings didn’t lose support after repeated wear and washing, nor did the fabric fade or bobble. The items also dried quickly on a washing maiden outside over the space of a few hours during a typical English summer day. The fabric shape remained, and there was no over-stretch, or laddering, which has been seen in some other lower-quality horse riding garments.

Cost

With the cost of living crisis affecting most, luxury purchases are few and far between – bear with me here. The cost of the leggings and base layer is what you’d expect to pay and seems in line with other equestrian brands. However, the clear difference is the quality and finish, compared to the price! With a high-end look, comfort and great quality, these garments come with an excellent price tag. Personally, I would say you get more for your money than other similar items available, treating you to a little luxury without breaking the bank.

Sizing

Both the base layer and the leggings are very comfortable and a close fit. The base layer comes up slightly small, however, keep in mind this is supposed to fit snug, so if you prefer a little more room opt for one size up. Leggings offer a good stretch and are true to size.

Top rated features

  • Fantastic support
  • Substantial traction in the saddle thanks to the full leg ‘sticky bum’ silicone
  • Branding is fun, yet sophisticated
  • A real yard favourite, lots of horse owners commented on the set
  • The contrasting colours of rose gold and black really make this set stand out
  • The leggings pockets are large enough for a phone
  • Versatile, comfortable, and cool
  • Durable, easy to wash and dry
  • Excellent value for money

Also, the pack of sugar-free polos for the pony went down a treat (for him and me)!

Conclusion

There are many great features that add up to make Equcouture a great choice for horse riders and owners. The quality of the products is evident in the look, feel and resilience of the material, altogether offering great value for money. Eqcouture is bound to become an equestrian favourite!
