Emily King’s Making A Move

British 4* eventer Emily King, is set to move to Cheshire, basing her work with boyfriend and fellow eventer, Sam Ecroyd.

King mentioned the move in her social media post, to gain support for her successful £40,000 crowdfunding campaign for Langford Take the Biscuit. King suggested the move posting that donors to the campaign would be able to watch the horse ‘train at home, near Chester’.

King is making the move from her current base in Devon which she shares with her mother, Mary King, the highly regarded 4* eventer. Emily King is aiming to move at the end of July.

Although King is moving away from her mother, and valuable knowledge source, the move will allow King to tackle the northern eventing circuit. The move will also allow King and her boyfriend to provide support throughout the training process for one another; currently training apart and competing together due to yard locations.

King and Ecroyd regularly compete at the same events providing rivalry and support for one another. Most recently, King and Ecroyd are competing against one another at Tattersalls CCI2* U25 event.

Ecroyd, 21, has had success up to 3* level, therefore, King may be able to provide insight and support from her 4* experience at Badminton Horse Trials in 2016. However, Ecroyd may be able to provide insight on team-based success, achieving medal positions as Team GBR at the European Pony Championships in 2010 and 2011, as well as individual silver.

Together, King and Ecroyd seem to be set to take the U25 circuit by storm and develop horses and results which will challenge the top riders of the moment.
