Double Gold For Wells At The World Equestrian Games
Sophie Wells has achieved a second gold medal at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tyron, North Carolina.
Wells, riding 11-year-old C Fatal Attraction, danced into the lead of the Grade V Freestyle with a score of 80.755%.
After discovering her win, an emotional Wells posted on social media;
Woooo we did it !! Gold in the freestyle today at WEG. Jorge was a bit tense but he stayed with me and we managed to pull off our new freestyle to the music Tom Hunt composed for us. It gives me goosebumps ! Thank you so much to my team, here and at home. You are amazing.”
Wells’ win adds to her huge medal haul from this year’s WEG, winning the Grade V Individual Para-Dressage and managing a silver medal in the Team Competition, earlier in the week. Her medal streak comes after having no individual world titles for 8 years.
Silver to Frank Hosmar NL and Bronze to Tomoko Nakamura JP

Frank Hosmar once again fell close behind Wells, achieving an impressive 79.155% on his own 13-year-old, KWPN, Alphaville NOP.
Quietly working their way up the ranks, Japanese team member, Tomoko Nakamura with 10-year-old Djazz F, grabbed bronze. Nakamura took the medal with a score of 73.540%, swiping the chance of double bronze for Germany’s Regine Miselkamp and Look At Me Now, who held the bronze in the individual competition earlier on this year’s Games.

Natasha Baker is the last Team GBR para-dressage rider to go. Baker, with 9-year-old, Mount St John Diva Dannebrog, are set to hit the centre line of the Grade III Freestyle at 05:18pm (10:18pm BST) today (22 September 2018).
