Burghley Horse Trials to Host BE80 Championships
British Eventing have announced that Burghley Horse Trails will be the official host of the BE80 (T) Championship from 2020-2022.
Burghley Horse Trails, set in the prestigious Burghley Park, will welcome the successful BE80 rider’s, creating a ‘unique competition experience’. The competion is set to take place in the same week as their famous CCI4* Land Rover sponsored competition, allowing the entry level riders to travel over the same turf as their idols.
A brand-new course will be designed especially for the championships, providing those who are successful at the Regional Final with an ‘exclusive opportunity’.
Regional Finals for the BE80(T) will be trialled next year for the 2019 Championship competition at Kelsall Hill. British Eventing is set to announce full details, including who is eligible and how to qualify for both the 2019 and 2020 BE80(T) Championship, in the coming weeks.
Upon the announcement, David Holmes, the British Eventing Chief Executive commented;
This is a hugely important development for our members and the sport. Burghley House is steeped in eventing tradition and is a stunning location for a Championship event. We are particularly grateful to Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials Director, Elizabeth Inman, and her team, along with Miranda Rock President of Burghley Horse Trials, for their enthusiastic support of this new British Eventing initiative.”
Competitors at the championships will also be able to access support from BE accredited coaches, throughout their cross-country and showjumping course walks. Additionally, coaches will lend their knowledge to offer guidance and advice to the competitors.
