Bransby Horses Gear Up for No.1 Event of the Year

Bransby Horses Autumn Fair, 2019

Following the success of the Summer Fair in June, Bransby Horses is now planning their biggest ever Autumn Fair to take place on Sunday 29^th September from 11am until 4pm. The Autumn Fair has been a flagship event for the equine rescue charity, based in the hamlet of Bransby, for more than 40 years. It is a great chance for the charity, which rescues and rehabilitates hundreds of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, to engage with supporters. Last year, the event attracted more than 3,000 people and continues to grow in popularity each year.

A wide variety of activities will be running on the day, which includes demonstrations, craft stalls, a raffle, falconry, glitter tattoos, a dog show, bouncy castle and a Donated Goods and Tack Sale. There are also plenty of picnic areas to choose from, to stop and refuel the family, as well as a barbeque in The Courtyard and hot and cold food and drinks in The Feedroom Café. Entry is free but donations are very welcome and help to support their work.

Vicky Varney, the Events Coordinator at Bransby Horses said:

This is one of the most long-standing and significant events on our calendar and we’re already getting prepared for what we believe will be the best yet! Everyone is welcome to come along, whether it is someone curious about what we do or a longstanding supporter and friend. Events such as this are a really good opportunity to tell people what we do, thank people in person and share some of our stories.”

Visitors can travel by car as there is plenty of parking (suggested donation £2) and Stagecoach will also be providing a free local bus service from Lincoln Train Station.

Having celebrated their 50^th anniversary last year, the charity has also recently confirmed they now have almost 1,000 equines in their care. More than 430 equines live on site and more than 520 have been rehomed but continue to receive support from the charity. Last year alone, the charity helped rescue 93 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, thanks to continued public support.

The charity relies entirely on help and donations from the public. People who want to help can do so in so many ways and every penny makes a difference. Donations of cash, preloved goods, second hand tack or time (though volunteering) are hugely valued by the charity. Legacies are the lifeblood of the charity, providing 75% of the funding the charity needs to be able to continue, each year.
