Woman Sets Up Charity Following Horse Riding Accident

A woman from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire has set up a new charity after breaking her back during a horse riding accident in 2008.

Gillian Fowler, a marketing and communications business owner, set up the registered charity, BackStrong Trust, aiming to help those who have ‘invisible’ back and spinal injuries yet have no permanent neurological damage.

BackStrong Trust, will act as a central point by providing vital information and support; something Gillian found a lack of whilst recovering from her injuries. The Trust also aims to offer buddies who have had similar conditions for support, offer health breaks and aims to run support groups.

BackStrong Activities, who focus on specialist outdoor activities and adventures for all ages that is also owned by Gillian,  has been set up; the proceeds from which go towards helping fund the Trust.
