Will Yazmin Pinchen be Able to Defend Grand Prix Title at Bolesworth?
Grand Prix Champion Yazmin Hopes For More Bolesworth Brilliance…
Yazmin Pinchen hopes to be back at Bolesworth CSI**** International this summer to defend a grand prix title
that provided arguably the greatest moment of her showjumping career so far.
The 22-year-old Sussex rider lit up a thrilling Bolesworth grand prix finale last June, producing a masterclass on the
chestnut gelding Van De Vivaldi by jumping three clear rounds to eclipse a world-class field that included the likes of Scott Brash, Billy Twomey, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Laura Kraut.
Despite being the youngest rider among a 49-strong field, Yazim Pinchen displayed impressive composure as last to go in a four horse jump-off alongside Trevor Breen, John Whitaker and Keith Shore.
With the other riders having collected jump-off faults, Pinchen knew a clear round would be enough to claim one of British showjumping’s most prestigious prizes, and she delivered in style.
“I definitely hope to be at Bolesworth again this year,” she said. “We are not long back from the Sunshine Tour, where Van De Vivaldi finished third in one of the big grands prix there. I have also got the mare Ashkari, and a couple of new horses coming through from owners as well, so it’s all going the right way.
“Bolesworth is one of the best shows I have been to, really, and I have been lucky enough to go to some top shows. Bolesworth cater for everybody, not just the riders. There is so much that goes on during the four days – concerts and fashion shows and so many others things. There is always a really good atmosphere, and Nina Barbour and the team do such a fantastic job.”
Pinchen often treats herself to a video viewing of her 2015 Bolesworth triumph, and she added: “I remember it being such a strong competition. Everything worked out for me on the day. I was the last one to go, and I remember going down to the entrance to the arena and my family telling me that I just had to go clear to win.
“That was obviously a lot of pressure, but exciting as well. I just had to make sure the adrenalin didn’t take over. I had to take a few gambles, but it all paid off. I knew my horse could do it – it was just all down to me being positive.”
Running again at CSI**** level, Bolesworth’s 2016 four-day show takes place in the spectacular grounds of Bolesworth
Castle, Cheshire from June 16-19 and promises an exciting mix of supreme showjumping talent less than two months before the Rio Olympics, dressage to music, the unmissable puissance, para showjumping, an invitational jockey challenge and Bolesworth’s flagship elite young horse auction.
A prize fund of almost £60,000 has been announced for the final day’s headline Bolesworth International Grand Prix, and if that is not enough to whet the appetite, then show-stopping performances from pop bands Atomic Kitten, 5 and Retake That are also in store.
Numerous other family attractions include a new equine learning zone that will feature rider guest appearances, camel racing, a funfair, action-packed displays, bistro and champagne bar, fine food, fashion & lifestyle zone, plus a shop until you drop experience guaranteed by around 130 retail outlets.
Looking ahead to Bolesworth 2016, show president Nina Barbour said: “We have put together another fantastic four days of non-stop action in the very special setting that we have at Bolesworth. We look forward to welcoming visitors, new and old, for what I know will be an unmissable event.
“Our competition schedule will showcase the very best of showjumping talent from at home and abroad, given added significance with the Rio Olympics looming large on the horizon, and a vast array of family entertainment that we know will appeal to all ages.”
