Valegro The Early Years, is the second book in the popular children’s series ‘The Blueberry Stories’ about the world famous dressage horse Valegro. The book will be available from 26th April as an illustrated paperback and e-book.
This book sees Valegro, Blueberry – as he is known at home – begin his schooling under the experienced eye of his owner and trainer Carl Hester. The little brown horse has to learn his craft and it isn’t long before Carl has him entered for some important competitions. But will Blueberry be able to display his amazing potential? Will Carl be pleased with his pupil and continue his training? Or will the prejudices of the other horses he encounters, who look down on him because of his lack of height, affect Blueberry’s confidence?

Valegro The Early Years continues Blueberry’s story in his own words and gives readers an insight into his life before he became famous as well as the inhabitants of the world’s most famous dressage yard. We meet Regency, the horse with a seemingly unsolvable problem and Blueberry’s best friend Lulu who together hatch a plan to help Regency – but will it prove successful? Follow Blueberry’s amazing journey as he works hard to follow his dream of becoming a dressage horse.

This second book in the series of six books, ‘The Blueberry Stories’, is written especially for children (and the young-at-heart) by his trainer and co-owner, Carl Hester, told to equestrian author Janet Rising. Valegro: The Early Years is a perfect read for anyone who loves horses and is curious to learn how a horse overcame the odds to become universally acknowledged as the greatest dressage horse of all time.

The book includes learning and a technical glossary to help pass on some equestrian knowledge in a fun and friendly way. Edited to Key Stage 2 the series is suitable for use in schools and learning programmes. Ideal for readers aged 7+, the young at heart and all animal lovers.
