Tiz The Law set for another victory

The favourite for this weekend’s Kentucky Derby is Tiz The Law. The horse is the one to put fear in the Kentucky Derby rivals given recent performances have been electric with Tiz The Law winning in comfortable style.
In the Belmont Stakes which opened the ‘Triple Crown’ series this year Tiz The Law led approaching the final bend and stretched the lead in superb fashion and lengthened going towards the line. The next challenge for Tiz The Law this season was the Florida Derby in March and signs were ominous that a special horse was in the making when the result was another win for the horse.
Tiz the Law first ran over six and a half furlongs winning well at Saratoga then followed up with a 1-mile victory at Belmont Park. The only defeat came at Churchill Downs in November 2019 when finishing third.
This weekend Kentucky Derby is run over one mile and a quarter furlong at Churchill Downs and the issue for punters looking to bet on Tiz The Law is that the horse suffered the only defeat so far in his career at that track finishing third of eight runners with the winner being Silver Prospector.
A horse that could stop Tiz the Law from completing the second leg is Authentic whose current odds are priced at + 800. Authentic has run only four times, of which two of them have come as a three-year-old. This lightly races the horse has won three of the four starts so knows where the finishing line is.
The most recent win came at Monmouth Park in July over 1 mile and 1 furlong winning just by a nose over Ny Traffic. The previous race Authentic came in second to Honor AP in July at Santa Anita which was a preparation race for the Kentucky Derby.
Looking at Honor AP in more detail, the price for the horse to win this weekend is +450 and in some punters eyes the most likely challenger to The Law. When you see that Honor AP beat Authentic in July by just over 2 lengths, it will take a big effort for Authentic to overcome that as well as take on Tiz the Law.
Honor AP has only five wins in the horse career to date and only two of them have been wins. However, the win at Santa Anita was impressive in the ratings so therefore makes the horse 2nd favourite here.
One final horse to mention is Thousand Words who beat Honor AP in August at Del Mar and at +1600 this is definitely a horse which is worth an each-way shout. Authentic is almost four times the odds of Honor AP to win the race and if you take the last race as a marker then the oddsmakers have got it wrong.
Kentucky Derby prediction.
Tiz The Law can be backed at -157 and is a worthy favourite to land the Kentucky Derby. With a significantly greater rating than all the rivals, they are going to have to run the race of their lifetime to compete with Tiz The Law. The odds have been shortening all the time and some suggest that only a huge off day could scupper the chances of another step closer to the Triple Crown.
Should Tiz The Law win the Kentucky Derby, then the final leg of the 2020 Triple Crown will be the Preakness Stakes which now has a date of October 3rd 2020.
The only note of caution for odds on backers is that the Churchill Downs course is slightly different to what Tiz The Law has faced recently, so could have a slight effect on performance, though with such impressive wins of late the speed of the horse isn’t in question.
The expectation is high that Tiz The Law will put on another notable performance and make all the headlines and be victorious in a race which sadly won’t have spectators. However, everyone viewing on TV will be anticipating a strong performance.
