Redwings’ Legacy Manager, Katie Fulcher, has been awarded a Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Award, recognising and celebrating outstanding achievement and skill in the sector. Katie, who celebrated 10 years at Redwings last year, was announced as the winner of the Legacy Administrator of the Year Award at a private ceremony at Hilton Bankside, London on the 18th April 2024 after being nominated by her colleagues at the biggest horse welfare charity in the UK. Redwings Horse Sanctuary has announced the sad passing of its oldest resident, Welsh pony Willow, at the age of 46.  Willow came to Redwings in 2003 following a successful RSPCA prosecution. She had been living on the Welsh commons, where she had received little or no handling from humans. Redwings Horse Sanctuary has launched its Christmas animation for 2023, which celebrates the life and legacy of Black Beauty author Anna Sewell, with a voiceover by Dame Joanna Lumley. Redwings releases footage of horses distressed by fireworks

Redwings Horse Sanctuary is releasing video footage (Below) showing the effects of fireworks on some of their residents taken yesterday (Bonfire Night, Sunday 5th November). Last week the largest horse welfare charity in the UK urged people to contact their local MP to ask for a review of fireworks legislation and the impact they have on animals.  Tragically, three ponies have died at Redwings in recent years because of fireworks being set off near their centres. Suffering foal found upside down in rubble is now doing well in Redwings’ care

A poor neglected foal who was found suffering terribly at a rubbish tip in December 2022 is now doing well in the care of Redwings Horse Sanctuary. He was thought to be only about 5 months old and was completely emaciated under his hair. He was covered in pressure sores on many parts of his little body, had a significant worm burden and could not stand on his own. He was lying, collapsed and upside down, in a pile of rubble, partially covered by an old mattress. An RSPCA officer…
