Sustainability Wins for Silvermoor!

Silvermoor MD stood with the award for sustainability at BETA 2024

Northumberland-based Silvermoor Ltd is celebrating a significant achievement after BETA International, where their Eco Treatsies were awarded Gold in the ‘Sustainability’ category of the New Product Awards and recognised as runner-up in the ‘Feed and Treat’ section.

Eco Treatsies are economical and eco-friendly, packaged in recyclable paper. These grass treats are not only delicious but also low in sugar and starch, and high in fibre, making them a nutritious option for horses, ponies, llamas, alpacas, and donkeys.

Crafted from 100% homegrown grass from Silvermoor’s farm, the grass is high-temperature dried using a sustainable biomass heat source to preserve its nutrients and vibrant green colour. The final product is pelletised and packaged on-site, ensuring quality and minimising the carbon footprint.

Managing Director Ralph Thompson shared his thoughts on the win: “We are delighted that Eco Treatsies have taken gold in the sustainability section. We worked hard to create a product that is eco-friendly both in terms of production and packaging and could be economically priced. With the cost of living continuing to rise, we know many horse owners are feeling the pinch but want to still be able to treat their horse to a healthy snack without compromising on quality while being as environmentally friendly as possible.”

Eco Treatsies retail at £3.26 for a 1kg bag and are the latest addition to Silvermoor’s popular Treatsies range, which includes Calming Chamomile, Brilliant Beetroot, Tremendous Turmeric, and Minty Unicorn flavours.

Since starting haylage production in 2005, Silvermoor has expanded its offerings from two to 21 different products, including Treatsies, Silvermoor Swingers, and Grassabix. The brand has become a recognised name in the equestrian industry and a manufacturer of private label goods for leading market brands.
