Saint-Tropez to Host Top Riders and Spectators for Spectacular LGCT Leg
A selection of the most talented horse and rider combinations in the world are headed to sunny Saint-Tropez as the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) presses on from Madrid to picturesque Pampelonne Beach in Ramatuelle, France. The event, the third stop on the 16-leg Global Champions Tour, will take place May 27-29 during the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show.
As the UK continues to be hit with long bouts of rain, riders will get to enjoy the warmer climate of the French Riviera. However, it’s not all sun and sangria as competitors will be met with three intensive days of competition, which will also welcome back spectators. With safety as its number one priority, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse show is ready to greet equine enthusiasts and showjumping fans as they relax and enjoy this one-a-kind venue. An exclusive spectator experience from start to finish, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show provides a showcase for many of the globe’s most recognized riders as they compete to win unprecedented prize money and coveted points toward the Longines FEI Rankings. In addition to the action inside the ring, attendees will benefit from the beautiful scenery, dynamic shopping opportunities inside the sponsor village, and delicious food and ring-side refreshment.
This year’s program will include six, top-level CSI 5* classes, included the famed LGCT Grand Prix of Saint-Tropez, and two rounds of exciting, CSI 5* Global Champions League (GCL) team competition. In addition, a host of CSI 1* classes throughout the day are dedicated to amateur riders of all ages. With more than €550,000 in total prize money on offer throughout the weekend, this year’s Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show is sure to be an event to remember. Accompanied by expert commentary and analysis, the 2021 Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show will be streamed live on GCTV, ensuring fans around the globe can make the most of the action while watching their favorite horses and riders compete.
