Rising star who starts jumping during lockdown makes her show jumping championship debut one to remember
At just seven years old, up and coming show jumping superstar Anya Dewey Clarke took the top two spots in the Springboard 128cm final at the Winter Pony Finals held at South View Equestrian Centre.
Riding three of the seven ponies in the jump off, Anya was leading from the start on Brookhall Pavarotti, only to beat herself on her final ride, Mini Mouse II, to scoop first and second place.
Anya took to show jumping during lockdown, when she was bought a very special starter pony, Fly, to kick off her show jumping career. Anya progressed more than anyone could expect and soon Pav, Mini and Rebel joined Anya’s string of jumping ponies.
She really took to the show jumping and now we’ve got three show jumping ponies,”
her mother Anna said.
She’s very dedicated and we’re incredibly proud of her. Our objective was to just get round, enjoy it and learn from it, it really is a dream come true. We can’t thank all the people supporting her enough.”
Anya has a fantastic team of sponsors behind her already who have seen that her natural talent is one to be watched. All her clothing and riding boots are from Hy Equestrian and Little Rider – which were shown to not only be perfect for her to stay comfortable whilst riding so competitively, but also proved to be lucky!
To keep the ponies looking and feeling their best, Anya has Supreme Products and TopSpec behind her too. Keeping the ponies healthy from the inside out is very important. The ponies are all fitted with gorgeous Devoucoux saddles, which are important for Anya as although she has a great seat, she is very little, and these saddles support her in all the right places when show jumping.
