Ramiro B Son – Cooley SRS Continues Fantastic Eventing Success at Badminton Horse Trials
THE 11-year-old Cooley SRS and Oliver Townend kept the flag flying for the team at Harthill Stud when the Ramiro B sired bay gelding finished a fantastic second at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
Owned by Angela Hisplop, Cooley SRS is an Irish Sport Horse bred by John Fitzhenry.
By the British-based sire Ramiro B, he is out of Ballynattin Pride by Kiltealy Spring x Kings of Diamonds. Produced by Oliver from his early days, he was his ride at the 2017 European Championships when winning team gold although Badminton was the horse’s first four-star.
The Badminton success followed celebrations a week earlier when the Ramiro B sired Cooley Master Class and Oliver Townend took the 2018 Land Rover Kentucky CCI 4* title.
The Gloucestershire event started well for Cooley SRS and Oliver when placed 15th after the dressage on a score of 25.9.
Cross-country day saw them put in a confident performance with just 7.2 time penalties which moved them up to fifth place.
And keeping up their excellent jumping form, a clear show jumping round on the final day catapulted them up the leader board, finishing a brilliant second to Jonelle Price and Classic Moet.
Said Nina Barbour of Harthill Stud:
The last two weekends have really shown what a fantastic sire Ramiro B is when producing talented and tough sport horses that move well, jump well and have the stamina to compete at the highest level.
We couldn’t be more pleased with the results, well done to Oliver and his team and it is a great to see Ramiro B in the spotlight this season, he really is one on his own.”
Number four on the WBFSH sire rankings for eventing stallions, Ramiro B is truly unique in how consistently he stamps his stock. The prolific stallion, a Grand Prix winning show jumper himself, consistently delivers jump, movement, blood and an excellent temperament that all come through in his offspring.
He is an outstanding dual-purpose stallion for both eventing and show jumping and is well known for his long list of successful progeny at the highest levels in both sports. He is also a very commercial choice for breeders, due to how trainable his offspring are from an early age.
Ramiro B has a stud fee of £950 plus VAT offering fresh, chilled or frozen semen.
