ProDen PlaqueOff Gains VOHC Seal of Acceptance
Swedencare’s flagship product, ProDen PlaqueOff® Powder, has been awarded the VOHC® Seal of Acceptance after two clinical studies shown that product significantly reduces the formation of plaque and tartar in dogs.
Performed by Jerzy Gawor, DVM, PhD, DipAVDC/EVDC and his team, the clinical studies also showed that there was a 67% reduction in gingivitis.
Håkan Lagerberg, CEO of Swedencare AB said: “I am thrilled to announce that the important VOHC seal has been awarded to another ProDen PlaqueOff® product. This will allow this product, as well as the ProDen PlaqueOff Dental Bites dog treat product, to be carried by veterinary practices owned by commercial companies that have a policy of offering only VOHC-accepted oral hygiene products. Swedencare looks forward to using this new scientific information to further educate pet owners about the benefits of ProDen PlaqueOff”.
How the Studies were Performed
The studies were done on two groups of small and medium size dogs, divided into two groups, one that received ProDen PlaqueOff® Powder and one that received a placebo. Before entering the study, all dogs were found to be healthy on examination, and their teeth were cleaned to remove all tartar and plaque. The dogs were given the product for 30 days and after this, the presence of plaque and tartar was measured. In dogs receiving ProDen PlaqueOff® Powder, there was significantly less plaque and tartar. The mean reduction in plaque index was 32% and the mean reduction in tartar was 35% compared to the placebo group. In addition to plaque and tartar, gingival health was measured as gingival bleeding. The mean reduction of gingival bleeding was 67% when ProDen PlaqueOff® Powder was used.
