September’s Pontispool Horse Trials Raring to Go

The organisers of Pontispool Horse Trials have announced preparations are underway for their latest equestrian British Eventing fixture, which will take place on Saturday 19th to Monday 21st September 2020.

Classes at the event include BE100, BE90, BE100Open, BE80, N, OI21, OI, I, ON and BE90open, with the competition sponsored by Wychanger. The Somerset-based venue hosts a variety of popular equestrian competitions across the disciplines each year

With entries already pouring in for the horse trials, organisers are expecting three full days of competition with up to 1000 horse and rider combinations in action.

The courses and Wychanger Arena are in immaculate condition with Richard Mitford-Slade and his partner Lucy Fielding-Johnson looking forward to welcoming people back to Pontispool Equine Sports Centre.

Said Richard:

While lockdown curtailed business here at Pontispool, we were able to put the time to good use. New fences have been built, the ground is in the best possible order, and we’re really looking to the competition, having lost our two previous dates this year.

The cross country schooling courses and Wychanger Arena have been busy, but running horse trials is what its all about for us and we’re raring to go again.”

Designed by Eric Winter, the cross country courses at Pontispool are up to height, but with the fences built on parkland, there are long stretches where riders can establish a good rhythm in between the jumps and they are renowned for creating a positive experience.

Richard added:

It’s great to be back and with some big names already entered we’re really looking forward to three great days of competition.”
