The Swiss watchmaker Longines celebrated 10 years of successful partnership with Ascot, one of the leading racecourses in the United Kingdom in 2016.

Today in Longines’ London boutique, the Swiss watch brand and Ascot celebrated their successful partnership which has spanned the last decade. The association with Ascot, which started in 2006 and saw the brand become the Official Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of the British racecourse, marked for Longines a significant milestone in its involvement in horse racing in Europe. The brand has nurtured a passion for equestrian sports since 1878 and is now a partner of some of the major equestrian events across the globe.

To mark this celebration, Longines was proud to donate a cheque to The Injured Jockeys Fund, a charity dear to Ascot, which aims at improving the lives of injured jockeys and their families by providing appropriate assistance, financial or otherwise. The Injured Jockeys Fund is besides supported by the 2016 Longines Ladies Award’s recipient HRH The Princess Royal, as Patron of the charity.

In addition, a Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Racing Horses 1911 in rose gold was presented to Ascot’s Chairman Johnny Weatherby as a gift for this special anniversary. The original pocket watch, along with other exceptional historical pieces from the Longines Museum in St. Imier, Switzerland, will be displayed in a temporary exhibition in the boutique. Ascot presented to Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing, a miniature of Yeats – the only horse to have won the Ascot Gold Cup four times – by the equine sculptor Charlie Langton.
