Equestrian product specialist, LeMieux, is to be put up for sale with a price tag of £150m, however, founder members British former Olympic eventer Robert Lemieux and his wife Lisa intend to continue to play ‘an active role’ in the brand they started almost 20 years ago. Since its inception, the brand has impressively increased its annual revenue from £10m in 2018 to £50m.

Robert and Lisa started Horse Health in 2003, expanding upon the business until they were able to launch the celebrated LeMieux brand in 2006, beginning with their own brand of saddle pads which they intended to be ‘innovative, well made but above all, affordable’.

The Hampshire based business, which is majority family-owned with investment from LDC since 2021, has approximately 150 employees, boasts sales in 69 countries and targets equestrians with high quality products.

LeMieux was included in the Sunday Times 100 by 2008 and acknowledged as the 66th fastest-growing company in the UK. The company described this as “not only a remarkable achievement for the business but also as a testament to our phenomenal team”.

In August 2023, LeMieux announced a strengthened relationship that incorporated a corporate partnership with the World Horse Welfare, where the brand had already raised over £20,000, alongside offering products in kind.

Managing Director, Dan Mahoney told H&H “LeMieux was founded by Robert and Lisa in 2006 and their unwavering passion, energy, and investment has been instrumental in shaping LeMieux into what it is today.

“As we look towards the future, Robert and Lisa will continue to play an active role in the brand, ensuring that we stay true to our roots, maintaining the essence of what LeMieux represents. As we set our sights on even greater horizons, we are seeking a partner with global capabilities, someone who can help us expand our reach and connect with riders from all corners of the world.”
