Leilia Paske Leads from The Start to Win CCI-LYR2* at Frickley Park Horse Trials

Leilia Paske and Fernhill First Friend (Yam) stormed to victory at Frickley Park Horse Trials, leading the field from start to finish, adding just 3.6 time penalties to their dressage score of 26.5.

Following a week of intense heat, the rain came down at Frickley Park Horse Trials but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the competitors in the Robinson Animal Healthcare sponsored CCI-LYR2*.

The Ipswich based pair were in a league of their own with Leilia on impressive form having just returned from the Junior European Championships in The Netherlands. Riding the Paske syndicates, Billy McFee, she claimed Individual and Team Silver.

Having just completed her A-Levels, 18-year-old Leilia was just hoping for a good run and was thrilled that he felt so good and on form again.

Leilia was presented with her prize by Robinson Animal Healthcare’s Product Manager, Andrea Bradshaw.

Said Leilia:

I was so surprised but thrilled to win. We completed our dressage test in 35 degree heat and then had torrential rain during the cross-country where I could hardly see the next fence approaching. Yam is so good, he just took everything in his stride, although I had a lot of tack cleaning to do on Monday as everything was covered in mud!

I would like to thank my trainers, Judy Harvey, Bridget Einstein and Caroline Powell for getting me back on track in training following my studies.”

Said Andrea:

Once again it was a top class event that was certainly tested by the unbelievable changes in weather conditions. It was a pleasure to present the prize to Leilia after such an impressive performance and we wish her every success in the future.

The CCI-LYR2* runs alongside the U18 National Championships and is open to riders under 21 to provide an opportunity for competitors that just exceed the age limit to compete against their peers at such a prestigious event.
