FOLLOWING the huge success of the Cazenove Capital Eventing Grand Prix, at this year’s Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show, the second leg of the series takes place at the Equitop Bolesworth Young Horse Championship. August 14-18th.

At the June show, leading event riders Jeanette Brakewell and Bill Levett were both in superlative form and will be joined by a fantastic line-up this time round.

The June class saw a great win for Gemma Tattersall who produced a blistering performance to head the first qualifier riding Santiago Bay and claim her place in the prestigious final at the Theraplate UK International Horse Show in December.

Other riders confirmed to compete include Jay Halim, second at Bolesworth International, Kristina Hall Jackson, Andrew James and Nicky Hill.

The Eventing Grand Prix takes place on Wednesday night, during the Gala Evening with a host of fantastic entertainment planned, including the Elite Ramiro B Auction at 9pm.

The auction is being held in memory of the legendary eventing sire and will feature Ramiro B offspring – foals, yearlings and two-year-olds.

Captain Mark Phillips, one of the world’s leading cross-country course designers, will once again build the course, his first in June meeting with universal approval from competitors and spectators alike.

The top five placed riders in the class will qualify to compete in the Final Leg at the Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show in December.

This high calibre invitational spectacle, with a £4,000 prize fund, will see 20 leading event riders tackle a course of show jumps and feature cross-country fences, against the clock in the International Arena.

Said Bolesworth Managing Director, Nina Barbour:

We were delighted with the success of the Eventing Grand Prix at the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show and can’t wait to showcase the fantastic talent of Britain’s leading event riders in August.

The second qualifier sits really well as part of the programme at the Equitop Bolesworth Young Horse Championship Show and the final will hopefully prove a real crowd pleaser indoors at the Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show at the M&S Bank Arena.

I evented for a number of years, it is a fantastic sport and the Eventing Grand Prix brings a new dynamic to all three of our shows.”

The competition will see show jumps standing at a maximum of 1.25m, with three seconds added for each fence knocked down.

There will also be an optional joker fence at a maximum height of 1.35m providing greater thrill and excitement throughout the competition.  The cross-country fences will be at British Eventing Intermediate level.

General Admission Tickets are now on sale at £5.00 including free car parking and Under 12s go free, or why not enjoy the show from the fantastic setting of hospitality complete with evening entertainment, premium bars and superb viewing.  Onsite camping is also available and can be booked online.
