Kate Humble Hosts Take up the Reins
TV presenter Kate Humble hosts Take up the Reins in Monmouthshire
Almost 200 people seized the chance to get a feel for life in the saddle when the Take up the Reins Tour of Great Britain arrived at TV presenter Kate Humble’s farm in Monmouthshire for the Humble by Nature Big Day Out 2016 (Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July).
The campaign’s mechanical horse RoboCob took his place at Upper Meend Farm, in the Wye Valley. He featured alongside demonstrations of outdoor cookery, craft, bushcraft and circus skills. Visitors also enjoyed the Farm Olympics, Edible Garden and Well-Being Area.
Those who enjoyed a ride received a goody bag with a booklet on getting started and vouchers for a £10 Equestrian Taster Experience (towards a riding session). And a free pair of riding gloves where on offer when buying their first pair of jodhpurs and boots.
The Take up the Reins campaign is to encourage more people into the sport and aims to get those of all ages and backgrounds connecting with horses. Take up the Reins is devised by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA). It is also supported by Hoof, the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) participation initiative.
