A NEW inspirational training and educational event will take place at the Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool this November, hosted by the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR).

The first of it’s kind, the RoR event will highlight the talent and transition of thoroughbred racehorses to their second career as a riding horse.

The development of the event follows the ongoing success of the RoR National Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in August each year.

The RoR Showcase will present demonstrations and clinics using 20 ex-racehorses that have already made the successful transition to ‘riding horse’. Horses Inside Out will be staging a live painted horse demonstration, while the two main arenas will display dressage, showjumping, showing, eventing, endurance and more.

Natural Horsemanship expert, Guy Robertson, will be on hand along with show producer Katie Jerram-Hunnabl, British Dressage Training Director Paul Hayler and Olympian Jeanette Brakewell. An ask the expert lounge will be available for visitors to drop in to discuss problems, gather tips and to ask questions.

A grand finale is scheduled to conclude the event, which will include all of the horses that have been used throughout the day. The 2014 Grand National winner Pineau De Re and former Royal Ascot winner Namibian will both be included in the spectacular.

Di Arbuthnot, RoR Chief Executive explains:

The RoR Showcase is intended to inspire and educate trainers, riders and owners at every level involved or interested in transitioning former racehorses to second careers, as well as providing information on the care, training and sale of these horses. This is a fantastic opportunity to come along and meet a host of experts and industry professionals all under one roof.”

RoR, known as the safety net for ‘vulnerable’ former racehorses, is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing.  Included in each year’s calendar of events is a well-established programme of competitions with Championships being held at Horse of the Year Show.
