Horses Feared Murdered in Cambridgeshire
Three horses, two of whom were five months pregnant, have died at a stud in Cambridgeshire just before Christmas.
The deaths are now being treated as suspicious. It is now thought the cause may be due to being injected with poison or via a sudden strike. There was nothing found in the horses digestive system that may have been the cause of death.
Owners of horses in the nearby area are being warned to tighten security and be extra vigilant.
The Pryce family, who run the 22 acre stud, have been left devastated by the ordeal. One of the horses has been owned for 16 years by the family.
The death of the first mare happened seven days prior to the pregnant mares. The Pryce family initially put the older mares death down to age, only when the pregnant mares were also found dead, was suspicion raised. All horses were found dead in the field located next to the railway line in Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire.
A crowd funding page has been set up to fund CCTV cameras, which are needed to increase the stud yards security to help prevent this kind of unlawful situation happening again.
