Wexford: a staying test in the Michael Hickey Memorial Chase
The 3.10pm Michael Hickey Memorial Chase is the race to look for on Wexford’s seven-race card. It is run over two miles and seven furlongs, in contrast to the two-mile novice chase at Chepstow earlier in the afternoon. For viewers choosing between the jumps meetings, the two races offer quite different tests over fences.
Musselburgh: a race named in honour of Joe Fanning
The 2.15pm Joe Fanning Fond Farewell Handicap is run over just short of two miles. It comes between a split mile-and-a-half handicap and the shorter races later on the card, including the 3.17pm Nairns Oatcakes Handicap, a Class 3 contest over seven furlongs. The highest-class race on the Scottish card comes earlier, with the 12.35pm Class 2 EBF restricted maiden over seven furlongs.
Nottingham opens with a four-runner sprint
Chevere was quoted at 4/7 in the published betting for the 12.15pm EBF Desert Crown Novice Stakes, with Christmas Is Comin at 11/4. Four runners were listed for the five-furlong opener on soft ground. At the other end of the card, Rogers Dream was reported as a narrow favourite for the 3.55pm finale, a much bigger field with 15 runners listed.
Chepstow: novice chasers contest the Lysaght Cup
The 2.30pm Lysaght Cup is a Class 3 limited handicap chase over about two miles. Five runners were listed. Chepstow’s earlier maiden hurdle is split into two divisions at 1.25pm and 1.58pm, while a National Hunt Flat race closes the card at 4.10pm.
Dundalk takes the racing into the evening
Kempton gets the all-weather programme under way at 2.25pm. Dundalk joins it at 4.05pm, opening with a claiming race followed by a median auction maiden at 4.40pm. Kempton finishes at 6.30pm, leaving Dundalk with the final two scheduled races at 6.45pm and 7.15pm.
