The Hobby Horse Derby is gearing up to become one of Hickstead’s most talked about classes in the forthcoming Agria Royal International Horse Show taking place from 23-28 July, 2024.
With thousands of horses and ponies taking part across the six days of the show, the grounds will be alive with every kind of equine you can imagine, literally! From global superstars showjumping in the huge five-star Nations Cup down to tiny miniature horses … what more could an equestrian want?!
The fun on-foot Hobby Horse Derby, will play out away from the international arena, taking centre stage in the Village Green area of the glorious Hickstead showground.
First established in 2022, the Village Green is a now an established experience destination for the whole family, with shopping, dining and family entertainment on offer. It includes some of the country’s favourite equine and lifestyle trade stands, as well as a large selection of street food and a licensed bar.
There’s also a selection of garden games to play, and funfair rides for everyone to enjoy. West Sussex entertainer Tomfoolery returns to the All England Jumping Course with his magic shows and unique brand of chaos. Other live music entertainment to take to the Village Green stage includes the popular Choir & Ko, Brighton Buskers and the Romford Marching Band. On Saturday night, the Village Green will turn into a Rodeo, with live country music and the chance to test your sticking power on the bucking bronco.
Saturday is also Ladies’ Day, when the best-dressed guests have the chance to win overnight stays and spa breaks at some of West Sussex’s leading hotels.
Hickstead also offers a host of hospitality options, including the Members’ Restaurant, Private Boxes and the Al Shira’aa Suite, all of which offer delicious dining overlooking the International Arena.
