Harriet Upton Blog – So January comes to a close, as well as the shooting season and the hunting season but the eventing season draws ever closer!

January is always the hardest month of the year for eventers because our horses are all back in work but the weather makes it very hard to work them unless you are lucky enough to have an indoor school! Unfortunately I’m not and we live on top of a hill so I have to battle with the wind, rain ,snow and whatever else it decides to throw at me and my very fresh horses. January has indeed consisted of mainly holding onto my neck strap and trying to stay on!

I’ve planned my event diary and I will be starting at Iselham with Danny and Boo doing the novice. I will then start the other 3 at Tweseldown Hector will be competing in the novice and Rosie and Arabella in the 100.

This week, I have my first World Class training with Boo and I am also taking along Danny and Hector. It will be the first early morning of this season and I’m really looking forward to it.

I’ve got lots of exciting aims for this year for my horses and I’m just going to have fun with Danny this year and see how we get on, but  I would love to try and do a 3* this year.

Boo and Hector and I are also going to do the Young Rider trials, which I’m really looking forward to and Rosie is I hope, going to continue going up the levels and compete at 1* with her this season. With Arabella, I intend on taking her down a few levels to gain back confidence. Lets hope for a good season. In the mean time, please send me positive vibes,  for when I’m battling with the weather and horses that are far too excited for the season ahead!”

Till then!
