Great Britain tops FEI Eventing participation rankings as international competition reaches record levels
Great Britain has the highest number of FEI-registered Eventing athletes and horses of any National Federation, according to newly published figures in the FEI Annual Report 2025.
The latest data also highlights the continued global growth of the discipline, with the number of international FEI Eventing competitions increasing significantly over the past 16 years.
Great Britain leads FEI Eventing participation
The FEI’s latest statistics show Great Britain recorded the largest number of registered Eventing athletes and horses competing in FEI international competition during 2025.
Top nations by registered FEI Eventing athletes
- Great Britain – 891
- United States – 765
- Germany – 699
Top nations by registered FEI Eventing horses
- Great Britain – 1,888
- Germany – 1,162
- United States – 1,103
Meanwhile, the United States hosted the greatest number of FEI Eventing competitions during the year, staging 119 international events, ahead of Great Britain (70) and Australia (69).
International Eventing continues to expand
The report shows FEI Eventing remains on an upward trajectory worldwide.
In 2025, the FEI calendar featured 735 international Eventing competitions, representing 68% growth since 2009. Over the same period, the number of registered Eventing athletes increased by 15%, while registered horses rose by 17%, demonstrating sustained international growth in the discipline.
FEI registrations provide an indication of the depth of a nation’s international Eventing programme, reflecting the number of athletes and horses competing in FEI-sanctioned competition rather than domestic participation alone.
Strong championship season for Britain
The participation figures follow another successful championship season for British Eventing.
At the Agria FEI Eventing European Championship at Blenheim Palace, Laura Collett claimed the individual European title with London 52, while Germany secured the team gold medal.
The combination of strong championship performances and the highest number of FEI-registered athletes and horses reinforces Great Britain’s position as one of the sport’s leading international Eventing nations ahead of the next championship cycle.
What the figures tell us
While the statistics do not measure domestic participation, they do illustrate the strength and depth of Britain’s presence in international Eventing. Maintaining the highest number of FEI-registered riders and horses reflects a well-established pathway for athletes competing at the highest levels of the sport.
With international participation continuing to rise, the latest figures paint a positive picture for the future of Eventing both in Great Britain and around the world.
