GBR rider, Georgie Campbell has tragically died following a fall at Bicton International Horse Trials, today Sunday May 26th 2024.
Campbell was competing on ISH stallion, Global Quest, on the final day of this year’s event when she fell at fence 5B on the cross-country course.
Campbell was immediately attended by medical staff, but despite their best efforts the equestrian could not be saved.
Organisers of Bicton International Horse Trials have released the following statement:
“It is with deepest regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) suffered a fatal accident whilst competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England on Sunday 26 May 2024. Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 5b however, unfortunately, she could not be saved.
The horse, Global Quest, was assessed by the on-site vets and walked back to the stable and is uninjured.
To respect the family’s privacy at this extremely difficult and sad time, no further details will be shared.”
The popular 5* event rider was a familiar face at Badminton Horse Trials and Burghley Horse Trials and was married to Jesse Campbell. At only 37 she enjoyed many successes including at Bicton, in October 2023, riding Monaco N.O.P where they placed 1st. At the beginning of May, 2024, she came third at Osberton riding Global Candy Boy.
