French Horse Rider Killed in Rotational Fall
French horse rider, Maxime Debost, has been killed from a rotational fall when riding the cross country course at the CCI1* Chateaubriant yesterday (24/09/2017).
His horse, 13 year old Qurt de Montplaisir, was unhurt during the fall. The remaining day’s competition was cancelled and the FEI, along with police, are compiling a full report.
Medical assistance was administered immediately but unfortunately was unable to save the 29 year old riders life. The pairing fell at fence 11, halfway around the day’s cross country course.
Maxime leaves behind his partner, Marie Gouello and son, Raphael. He had been competing Internationally since 2005 and had enjoyed considerable success recently with two of his horses; Qurt de Montplaisir and Haras du Pin.
This is the first death of the year for the sport of eventing, which is nearing the end of the 2017 season.
Tributes have been flooding into the riders Facebook Page.
Our sincere thoughts are with the riders family and friends.
