Fly-Off Repellent, The Alternative to Sprays and Gels
Here we discover Fly-Off Repellent, a unique type of fly repellent for horses, to use as an alternative to sprays and gels.
What do you do when your horse rips fly rugs and doesn’t like fly sprays? Are you worried about how you’ll be able to keep your horse fly free this summer? Or Maybe you’re looking for a long-lasting fly repellent that doesn’t require application twice a day.
Here we introduce the unique Fly-Off Repellent, suitable for use on your horse, pets and family members. It’s a type of fly repellent that differs from the traditional sprays and gels, helping to make yours and your horse’s life as stress and worry free as possible.
Worn by the horse via an adjustable leg strap or multi-clip pocket, the small fly repellent insert (that sits inside each pocket) help deter flies 24/7 to a 50cm – 100cm radius. Each insert lasts between 7 – 14 days making the products cost-effective, especially during the height of the fly season.
Encased in a mesh pocket, the Fly-Off Repellent can be used on the horse’s legs, fly rug, saddle or headcollar!
With four Fly-Off Repellent types to choose from; Deet Extra, Citro Extra, Neem Extra or the Standard insert, you can opt to mix and match* to combine strengths or use individually. Each insert is waterproof and suitable for use on sensitive skin.
Using patent-pending 3 in 1 technology, the ‘Extra Fly-Off’ inserts combine impregnation and diffusion technology. The strength of each can be altered, by using the outward facing studs, to heighten the strength of the formula and intensity of smell.
The benefits:
- No need for daily application as once the product is in place, the repellent is active
- No needs for sprays or gels
- Natural oil aromas can help alleviate stress and anxiety in the horse
- Waterproof
- No skin contact product
- Cost-effective
Each of the four insert ingredients includes:
- Deet Extra: 50% Deet, Citronella and Eucalyptus
- Citro Extra: Citronella, Eucalyptus and Gerenoil
- Neem Extra: Neem Oil, Peppermint and Lavender
- Standard: Citronella, Eucalyptus and Lavender (ideal for use on babies and young children)
The black leg strap, which holds up to two inserts, is worn around the horse’s cannon bone and is fully adjustable with a Velcro strap. There is also an option to buy a clip on pocket the can be attached to the horse’s headcollar should the horse be averse to wearing fly masks.
The Inserts
Here we take a look at the benefits of each insert:
Deet Extra
A very strong fly deterrent. As the name suggests the Deet Extra inser contains 50% Deet. Research has shown, in recent years, for Deet to be harmful when absorbed by the skin, however, the structure and casing for the Deet Extra Fly-Off insert allows for outward flow of product resulting in no contact with the skin.
Citro Extra
The Citro Extra insert has a strong, yet nice smell due to the mixture of Citronella, Eucalyptus and Gerenoil. Ideal for use on days where flies are prevalent, the combination of oils act to repel most flies, including other pests such as ticks, lice and mites.
Neem Extra
By using Neem oil, known for repelling fruit flies, gnats, wasps and horse flies. No stain product, as some Neem gel products can leave a white residue. Due to the strong unpleasant smell associated with Neem oil, the product has been infused with Lavender and Peppermint to make for a more pleasant aroma without compromising effectiveness.
Great for human use too… The Standard Insert
Take on holidays, attach to a backpack or clip onto a pram, the Fly-Off inserts are suitable for human use too; offering you and your family full protection from flies.
Suitable for use around young children and babies, the product will repel most flies up to 50-100 cm away. Made using Lavender, Eucalyptus and Citronella. Ideal for wearing out and about.
Worming – Bots
Alongside a worm management programme, the Fly-Off Repellent products can also be used to help deter the female bot fly from laying eggs on the horse’s legs, and face.
Prices start from £6.00 for a pack of three standard inserts. Let straps and attachable pockets can also be purchased via the Fly-Off website, price starting from £3.
