Ego des Cabanes Fatally Injured at Pau Horse Trials 2026
Our thoughts are with French rider Luc Château, owner Laure Sudreau and everyone connected with Ego des Cabanes following the tragic loss of the 12-year-old gelding during Saturday’s cross-country competition at Pau.
The 2014 gelding sustained a serious injury after striking obstacle 9B on the cross-country course at approximately 5pm local time on Saturday, 24 October.
The incident prompted Château to dismount immediately. Sadly, the nature of the injury meant that Ego des Cabanes had to be humanely put down.
The loss brings a sombre note to the day’s competition at the five-star event in France.
Everyone at Everything Horse extends their heartfelt condolences to Luc Château, Laure Sudreau and all those who knew, cared for and worked with Ego des Cabanes.
