Charlotte Dujardin and the 2012 mare, Hawtins San Floriana, won this morning’s Six-Year-Old Dressage Championships on the opening day of The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show.
The six horse and rider combination class, sponsored by Lady Derby – Knowsley Safari Park, took place following the five-year-old championships that kicked off the day’s dressage action. The class featured five other riders, all from Great Britain; Stuart Mason, Beth Bexon, Sara Gallop, Emma Woolley and Charlotte Fry.
Sara Gallop had set the lead being only the third to ride into the international arena on board BKS Stud’s, BKS Fantasia. Their round set the bar high for the remaining riders finishing on an impressive 82%.
Emma Woolley was next out riding Hancock V. Losing valuable points for the walk, Emma rode a steady test to finish in third place with a final percentage of 74.4%.
Charlotte Dujardin, who will enjoy several other classes throughout the day including the afternoon’s Grand Prix, rode effortlessly around the arena to finish on a familiar high of 86.2%, stealing the top spot last minute from Sara Gallop.
The classes to follow will include the Seven-Year-Old championships as well as the afternoon’s Grand Prix which will see Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester ride their World Equestrian Game hopefuls, Mount St John Freestyle and Hawtins Delicato.
