What is the meaning of eventing?
In brief, eventing is when riders and their horses compete in various disciplines across the sport that test the partnership, stamina, skill, ability, and fitness of both the horse and rider. It can often be referred to as a ‘horse trial’ and attracts many riders, from novices to professionals in the sport. The three standard disciplines include dressage, cross country, and showjumping. The level of the competition will decide the order in which discipline is taken. Riders will compete for a trophy, fulfillment, and for a share in a prize fund. The higher the level of competition, the more testing the event will become and the more money can be won. The sport is recognised and supported by worldwide brands such as Rolex, Land Rover, Mars Equestrian, and more.
